COMMUNITY CONNECTORS
Our Community Connectors help ensure residents directly impacted by development shape the planning and implementation of revitalization.
Connectors go back to the basics: directly reaching neighbors wherever they are, whether at the supermarket, childcare center, library, hair salon, school, or home. Through conversations and surveys, they get to know their neighbors, connect them to resources, and find out what’s needed in the community.
We will be re-launching Community Connectors in the fall of 2021 with a cohort-style program. Please check back soon for more details.
RECENT PROJECTS
Barrio Kids Garden
The Barrio Kids Garden is a collaboration with Iglesia Del Barrio church’s after-school program launched in 2019. With Iglesia del Barrio, we cleaned and converted two vacant lots on Kip & Cambria Streets into a children’s community garden named Barrio Kids Garden. The garden gives kids the opportunity to plant and care for the seeds as well as educate them on greening processes and benefits of healthy eating.
The program is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. and open to kids in grades K-8.
